These incredibly smooth and creamy blended overnight oats topped with chocolate hazelnut praline taste like cake batter for breakfast! They are very easy to make with only 6 simple ingredients, packed with fibers, healthy and delicious. Prepare the day before, place in fridge overnight and have your breakfast ready on the morning!
Blended praline overnight oats
You already know regular oatmeal, baked oatmeal, overnight oats, so now say hi to the blended overnight oats AKA your new favorite breakfast! What exactly is « blended overnight oats » Basically, nothing radically different than classic overnight oats, except that they are blended to a dreamy smooth and creamy consistency. So compare with oatmeal, I would say that blended soaked oats taste more like a pudding consistency and have this very satisfying texture. That also makes them easier to eat and digest for some people I guess. In a word, blended overnight oats are like having raw cake batter for breakfast. Dreamy, isn’t it?
In addition to taste incredibly good, overnight oats are a very healthy and nourishing breakfast or snack. They are packed with fibers, contains protein and are refined sugar free. Perfect to keep you full until lunch and avoid sweet cravings.
To make them even more delicious, these oats are topped with a chocolate hazelnut praline sauce! I’m obsessed with these comforting flavors, especially in Winter and around the Christmas season. They remind me this famous chocolate and hazelnut spread from our childhood or my all time favorite praline truffles! At the end, these praline overnight oats really taste like a chocolate and hazelnut cake, but with only good and nourishing ingredients!
Make praline overnight oats
Ingredients for overnight oats
You only need 6 simple ingredients to make these overnight oats:
- Rolled oats – you can use pre-cooked or regular oats. As they will be blended and soaked in overnight, the oats will absorb the liquid and become smooth and fluffy.
- Plant milk – use any dairy free milk of your choice. I personally like almond which has a soft taste, or coconut or hazelnut which have stronger flavors that pair well with chocolate.
- Yogurt – for creamy oats I recommend to use thick plant yogurt, like coconut yogurt or skyr style soy yogurt. But regular plant based yogurt will work too.
- Hazelnut butter – it brings a delicious hazelnut flavor as well as richness and creaminess. If possible, use natural hazelnut butter, made with only hazelnuts and no added sugar.
- Maple syrup – it’s one of my favorite sweetener. It’s natural and has this delicious caramel flavor. Make sure to use good quality A grade maple syrup.
- Vanilla – liquid vanilla extract is optional but I love this subtle touch of vanilla flavor.
Make blended soaked oats
Not only these praline oats are delicious, but they are also extremely easy to prepare! Make them on the evening, place in fridge overnight to set and have your breakfast or to-go snack ready on the morning.
Start by adding all the ingredients in a small blender and blend until you get a smooth and creamy consistency. Depending on the size of your blender, you might need to stop the blender and scrap down the sides of the bowl during the process to make it easier.
At this step, the oats are ready! Ridiculous, isn’t it? Taste the oats and adjust the sweetness depending on your preferences. Keep in mind that they will be topped with a chocolate hazelnut praline sauce that will bring some more sweetness. I personally like my oats with this level of sweetness, but don’t hesitate to add more maple syrup or less if you prefer.
Add the blended oats in a large jar or two smaller ones and set aside while you prepare the chocolate hazelnut praline.

Tips and variations
Make praline overnight oats your own recipe!
These praline overnight oats is an easy and simple basis for a delicious breakfast! However, don’t hesitate to customize it depending on your personal taste, needs or what you have in your kitchen cupboards.
The easiest way to adapt this recipe is to add ingredients in the oats. It can be powders, ground spices, drops of liquids, purees or even fruits. Blend them together with all the ingredients for the oats. If necessary, adjust the quantity of plant milk to keep a smooth consistency. A few of my favorite add-ons include:
- Protein powder for an extra protein intake. You might need to add a little more milk.
- Superfoods in the form of powders, like maca, reishi, ashwaganda, spirulina or matcha.
- Ground spices, like cinnamon, ginger or cardamom.
- Fresh or frozen fruits, like banana, mango or berries.
An other option to customize oats is to play with the toppings! There is no rules, just put what you love and what you want. Nuts, seeds, dry fruits, fresh seasonal fruits, nut butter, coconut chips, granola, crushed biscuits, are only a few suggestions!
What can I use instead of …
I didn’t try them so I can’t fully ensure the result, but here are some modifications you could make to the recipe.
- Hazelnut butter. If you don’t like the taste of hazelnut or simply don’t have it at home, you can absolutely replace hazelnut butter with any other nut butter like almond, cashew or peanut. It just won’t be « hazelnut praline oats » anymore. If you have nuts allergy, you can use tahini or sunflower seed butter.
- Plant milk. You can try to replace it with water, but the oats won’t be as creamy as with the milk, and might be a little soggy.
- Yogurt. I didn’t try it but you might be able to replace yogurt with half a mashed ripe banana.
- Maple syrup. You can use any other liquid sweetener instead, like agave, yacon, coconut or date syrup.
